Fun at the hospital...

Since Chase was born in the middle of the night, we basically had to stay at the hospital for almost 3 days. We had fun watching TV and movies, and snuggling with the new little man. The hospital food was not good, surprise surprise, but luckily my sister in law Tisha brought us lots of yummy food. I actually didn't mind staying that long so I could have extra time adjusting and recovering before I went home. It worked out perfect for us because the day we got to go home was the day my mom was scheduled to fly in. I was so grateful to have her there!! Here are some pictures from the hospital.

The day we went home we had to wait most of the day for the doctor to get there and discharge me, so Carter had fun coloring on the floor to kill some time.

Chase Philip Campbell...

So here is the story of our little Chase man...finally!! If anyone doesn't want to read all the details of the birth, then just skip to the cute pictures!! On April 24th, I went in for my 38 week appointment. I was anxious to see if I had made any progress cause the week before at my 37 week appointment I was dilated to a 3 1/2 and the Dr. didn't think I would make it another week. But there I was in his office again. So he checked me and told me I was a 4 and 70-80% effaced. I left the Dr. office without high hopes of an early delivery, especially since I was a 4 for a week with Carter. I got home at about 230pm, and at about 4pm I started having contractions. I didn't get too excited cause I had been having them on and off for a couple of weeks. But they started getting stronger and more frequent and I found myself wondering if I would remember what it felt like to be in labor. I didn't want to go to the hospital just to be sent home. But at about 7pm, I knew it was the real thing. My brother and his family had come over to swim and to have us watch their kids for a little bit. They left at about 8pm, and shortly thereafter I told Nathan they better hurry up cause it was time to go the hospital. They got back at 830pm, and after we packed a few things...yep I hadn't packed yet...they took Carter to spend the night at their house and Nathan and I left for the hospital. On the way there my contractions were coming about every 3 minutes and were pretty intense. When we got to the hospital I was at a 7 and 100% effaced, so the nurses decided I was a keeper. They then proceeded to take their sweet time checking me in. As a nurse I apologize to anyone I ever kept waiting in pain. Anyways, after the 300 questions I had to answer the Dr came in and gave me my epidural...and oh the sweet relief!! Then the nurse broke my water and we were on our way... or so I thought. After about 20 minutes, my arms started going numb and I was having trouble breathing. Then my tongue started to feel funny and I started talking weird. I told the nurse, she went and got the Dr and my epidural was turned off. It had started to go up my body...and that's no good. So I sat there for a while scared out of my mind because I couldn't breathe, and just prayed that the feeling would go away soon. While we waited for it to wear off enough for me to be able to breathe so I could push, I started being able to feel the contractions again...lucky me!!. By the time I was ready to push, the epidural was totally gone. Let's just say I had to find a happy place...it was the worst pain ever!! I pushed for 20 minutes and the nurses looked at each other and said... well I guess we should call the Dr.. Little Chase was excited to come I guess because the nurse had to hold him in while we waited for the Dr to get there. That was by far the longest and worst 10 minutes of my life. When the Dr. got there I pushed twice and we had a baby!!! A beautiful and perfect baby boy!!! We were so excited to meet him!! I was so happy to see him in fact that the memory of the labor and delivery quickly left... it's amazing how fast you forget. The first time I held him my first thought was how much he looked like Carter. They are seriously twins!!! Chase was born at 0059am on April 25th. He weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is such a sweet boy and we LOVE having him here. Carter especially loves his baby brother and is very loving toward him. It is so fun to see him interact with Chase and makes me so excited to see them grow together and become the best of friends!! Welcome to the family Chase!! We love you sooo much!!!
