A couple of "firsts" for Chase...

January 29, 2014 was a day of firsts for Chase. He was a starting to get a little mullet in the back so we decided it was time to go trim his hair. We took him to Sara who cuts my hair. He didn't really like his first hair cut too much..

He wanted nothing to do with the cape so I just had to sit and try to hold it around him...

She trimmed around the back and his ears...

Such a handsome boy!!!

That same night I put the boys in the bath and sat next to the tub. And I watched as Chase slipped and nailed his chin on the edge of the tub. It looked so bad and right away I knew that it was not going to have a good result. I just had that feeling. So I pulled him out of the bath and realized that not only was he bleeding on the inside of his mouth, but he had a nasty cut on the outside just under his lower lip. I yelled for Nathan and said I think Chase is going to need stitches. It looked like he had bitten right through his lip. I knew it was going to need stitches, but just to make sure I wasn't being that over reactive parent, we called our neighbor down the street who is a pediatric resident. He came down right away and confirmed our thoughts. So off to the hospital we were going. Thank goodness we have such great neighbors. He stayed with Carter and put him to bed so we didn't have to take him with us. We were so grateful! So we packed up and made our first ER visit as parents. And I'm sure it won't be the last unfortunately.

The bleeding stopped after a little bit and Chase was actually doing just fine!

It didn't take too long to get in a room which was such a blessing. The doctors came in pretty quick and told us the outside of his mouth definitely needed stitches, but the inside wasn't that bad and would heal on it's own. He actually hadn't bitten through like we thought. His bottom teeth cut the inside of his mouth and his top teeth came down and cut the outside. So the first thing they did was put some numbing medicine on it so he wouldn't feel anything. It had to stay on for 45 minutes. It went by pretty fast though.

The medicine made his skin turn white... which means it was working.

Classic Chase face...

Before they stitched him up, they gave him some Versed which is a little sedative. Needless to say the little boy was feeling real nice. His eyes had that glazed over look and he literally just laid there and stared at the doctor while she stitched him up. They put him in the pampoos just in case he moved, but that little guy didn't move a muscle. They kept saying how they wished all their patients were so easy. I was just grateful he did so well!

So he got three stitches. They were the dissolvable kind so we wouldn't have to worry about going back in to get them out. We left about 1245am. It was a smooth ER visit and I was so thankful it was! On the way home I for sure thought Chase would konk out, but the little stinker got hyper. It took a little while to get him to go to sleep, but finally he did. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to keep him from playing with the stitches, but the next day he didn't even remember they were there. He didn't play with them once. The Bunnells came and picked up Carter and took him to preschool the next morning so I wouldn't have to wake Chase up. We have some pretty amazing people around here!
So all in all it wasn't that bad. But I really hope it's a long long long time before we have to do that again. And as for the bath, there is no standing at all now!!! And if you tell Chase to sit down, he points to the bathtub and his chin and says...hurt chin. Apparently he doesn't want to go back either:)

The rest of January...

The rest of January we just got back in to the groove of things. Carter and Nathan went back to school and we hung out and played at home!

Carter has really gotten in to coloring lately and of course Chase has to do what his big brother is doing!

Carter's castle in the city of Agraba... from Aladdin...

The kids got some horse rides from Dustin...

We pulled out the old train table and set it up again. Chase loves trains so he was loving this!

And of course we had some of this going on... Poor guy gets so sad when he doesn't get what he wants :)

He helped me cook a little...

I love it when these two play so well together!

Chase's new favorite past time.... Dump all the legos out and then get inside!

Davido came over to play so they had to get out the super hero costumes...

Chase just kept being cute...

So we pick our battles around here... He really wanted cookies for breakfast so that's what he got! At least they were oatmeal with craisins in them :) I think he actually only took two bites and then wanted pancakes...

Carter's new sweatshirt from Papa... he loves it!

Ahhh love these boys!

Chase literally follows Carter around and does what he does... It's so funny and pretty cute I think!

Yep... a daily occurrance

He soon came to realize that this wasn't going to work quite as well...

It was worth a try though..

I was cleaning stuff off the fridge and realized Carter never wrote his letter to Santa. So we decided now was as good a time as ever!

He is getting pretty good at writing!

And this little boy has to get a picture if Carter got one! Good thing he is so stinking cute!

January...

I realized when we got home from Spokane, that we hadn't taken pictures in front of our little tree yet. So here is our post Christmas family Christmas picture...
And I had to get a picture of the ornament Carter made me in preschool... I loved my little angel!

The weekend after we got back, Nathan's best friend and his wife came to see us. They live in St. Louis and it was really fun to see them!! We went out to eat and took them to the aquarium. Ryan is really good at photography and took some awesome pictures.

Ryan, Steph and the boys...

It was so awesome having them here. The boys loved playing with them and it as so good to see them and catch up. They are such great friends and it is fun to live closer to them!!
