Chase is 6 months old!!!

Chase turned 6 months old yesterday. He is sitting up and rolling from his stomach to his back, and can almost roll from his back to his tummy. He loves to watch his big brother play and just lights up every time Carter gets close. He sleeps ok some nights, not so great other nights. We think he is getting his "fang" teeth first instead of his front teeth. I guess he just likes to do things his own way :) He loves to play in his bouncer and really likes to be held by mommy :) He is super smily and laughs a lot (if he gets enough sleep). He weighs 16# 9oz,  34th percentile, and is 26 inches long, 32nd percentile, and his head is in the 50th percentile. So he weighs a little over a pound more and is 1 1/2 inches longer than Carter was at that age, but his head is smaller :) We just love this little boy and we are so happy he is in our family! I can't wait to watch my boys grow up together!!!

It's a Mickey invasion!!!

A few weeks before Carter's birthday, I started asking him what kind of birthday party he wanted to have. And each time he told me a Mickey party. He really loves Mickey and I was excited to start planning his party. We invited friends from church and I think I bought everything Mickey Mouse they had at the party store. I thought it turned out really cute and of course Carter had the time of his life, so it was all worth it!!!

The first thing we did when Carter woke up was sing him happy birthday. Then I attempted to make him a Mickey Mouse pancake. It wasn't my best Mickey pancake, but he liked it and I guess that's what matters :)

Then he got to watch some Mickey Mouse cartoons for a little bit and hang out in his PJ's

For lunch he had a Mickey Mouse peanut butter sandwich

The cupcakes I made

The party favors

I couldn't resist getting Carter a birthday cake. Even though we had cupcakes there is something about blowing out the candles on a cake

The decor

Carter and his new friend Davido. Nathan and I knew his dad growing up. We didn't even know they lived here until we saw them at church the first time we went. It was crazy! We had instant friends though!!

Opening presents

Blowing out his candle

I found this wall mural to put up and I thought it would make a perfect background to play pin the ears on Mickey!! They had lots of fun doing it!!

Carter and his new presents. Grandma and Grandpa got him a new train table. He loves it!!

A take your own family photo... I forgot to have someone take one so we had to resort to the timer method. This is the best one of the bunch

I love my little birthday boy!!

Happy birthday Carter!!!

I can't believe you are 3 years old today!!! Time has gone so fast!! You are such a joy to have in our family and I thank God every day that he sent you to us! We are the luckiest parents ever! I still remember the first time I ever held you. It was one of the happiest days of my life and every day since you have added to that happiness. I can't express enough how much I love you!!

Here is what you are up to today....

You weigh 26.5 pounds and are about 35 inches tall...In other words you are quite small, not even on the growth charts. Sorry buddy!! You will have a growth spurt someday!!

You still LOVE chicken nuggets, but you are branching out to other meats like ham and turkey. You love candy of course, but you also always ask me for yogurt, strawberries and grapes. Your absolute favorite fruit is apples, and you could eat 3 of them a day if I let you. You are finally starting to drink milk, although we do have to put a little strawberry syrup in it. But at least you will drink it!! You still like water the best, and aren't really fond of juice. You love to eat peanut butter sandwiches, but tell me "just butter mom, no jelly." I'm still trying to get you to eat vegetables, and every once in a while I can get you to eat a carrot. I think you still like M&M's the best, but Oreos are a close second.

Your favorite TV show is still Mickey Mouse and the movies you like right now are The Lorax, An American Tail, The Rescuers, Sword in the Stone, and the Great Mouse Detective. You have recently developed a liking for Scooby Doo... you like the original ones better than the new ones.

You love to help mom bake and cook dinner. Your favorite things to make are brownies and cupcakes. You really like to put the sprinkles on the cupcakes.

You LOVE LOVE LOVE to read and look at books. If we aren't reading to you, then we can usually find you in your room looking at books yourself. You even tell mom stories and read her books sometimes. Your favorite stories to tell are the prince and the princess, (aka Shrek), the 3 little pigs, and Cinderella- even though you haven't seen it :) You also love to tell Chase stories and sing him songs. You sing him Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and he just stares and smiles at you.

Some of your funny and favorite phrases are:
"Oh mom, you're kidding me" when I tell you no
    "So, anyways guys.."
"Oh, how many times do I have to tell you.." This is usually directed at me when I am repeating myself to you
Most of the time while you are eating you will look at me and say, "Mmmm...this is pretty good mommy...thank you for making it for me!"
And when you toot you say "what was that!"

You are the sweetest boy in the world and a great big brother!! You already look out for Chase and he  just adores you. You can make him smile and laugh easier than anyone else. You give him multiple hugs and kisses a day and tell me "mom he is my buddy" and "i love him so much mom!" When he is crying you are one of the first to go over and try to get him to stop. Whether it is showing him a toy or making funny faces at him or just talking to him.

You are always telling me thank you for making dinner, getting you snacks, buying you things, or whatever I'm doing or did for you. You say please and thank you and are so polite and sweet!!

You LOVE to go outside and would stay out there all day if you could. You are getting more adventurous and even will swim by yourself with your lifejacket on. Every time we go outside or in the car you have to have your sunglasses on and your water with you.

You love music and love to dance. Your favorite songs right now are Call Me Maybe and Moves Like Jagger...We play them over and over in the car!! You get this funny goofy grin on your face when they come on and you sing and dance in your car seat.

You still use your left hand more than you right, but you do use both.

You don't walk anywhere...ever...all you do is run!!

You like to color and you are learning your letters right now. You have A, B and C down and we are working on D.

You don't really have a favorite color yet, but you usually pick blue, pink, green, or red.

You love to play in mommy and daddy's closet and come downstairs in our clothes quite frequently. You also love to dress up in your Batman, Dinosaur and Spiderman costumes.

You are getting quite the imagination and are starting to make up more things everyday. There is never a dull moment when you are around and you make your dad and I laugh everyday. We never know what will be coming out of your mouth, and you keep us on our toes. And we wouldn't have it any other way. We love you so much and are so proud to be your parents!! We love you buddy!! Happy birthday!!!

All caught up!!

Well after a zillion posts, I am now caught up!!! Yay for me!!!!! Hope you enjoy them all the get to see them all!!

Firsts...

At the beginning of October we have already experienced some firsts in this family. Carter got to go to the dentist for the first time, no cavities to report. Chase ate rice cereal for the first time and Carter got his first black eye!! So already we have had quite the October!!

Here is my big boy at the dentsist. He sat perfectly still and opened his mouth the whole time. The first time we went for a cleaning and then we had to go back to have 2 of his molars sealed because one has really deep grooves and the other molar had a chip in it. They put this huge thing in his mouth for him to bite on and he just sat there the whole time. I was so proud of him. And now he tells me he wants to be a dentist, like uncle Jason. I hope he sticks with that :)
And here is the little man getting his first taste of real food. Although I'm not sure that you can call rice cereal real food. It tastes disgusting. He didn't know what to do at first and kept spitting it out, but eventually he got it and swallowed some. There are a lot of pictures, but I just can't refuse this cute face!!

He loves this bouncer now. He didn't really like it at first, but now he will stay in there for a good chunk of time!

Poor Carter... his first black eye. I was sitting at the computer and he asked me if he could get something. I told him sure and he took off running. Next thing I know I hear a thud and then screaming. I ran over and he was covering his eye. He had run straight into the island in the kitchen. Carter has a habit of running forward and looking backwards at the same time and this time it came back to bite him :(  His eye swelled up pretty quick and there was a bruise within a couple of minutes, so I knew it would be a doozy. He quit crying pretty fast though.

He even let me put some ice on it and sat there by himself for a while holding it
The next day

This is what it looked like a few days later. A nice yellow-green-purple eye just in time for his birthday party!!

But at least he is smiling!!

More cute pictures of my boys!!

This is the outfit Carter picked out one day
